Sodium Hydroxide is an inorganic compound and caustic metallic base and alkali salt. It typically comes in flakes, pellets, and granules. It is soluble in ethanol, water and methanol and is deliquescent, readily absorbing carbon dioxide and moisture in air. Sodium hydroxide is also known as caustic soda and used in industries typically as a strong chemical base in order to produce paper and pulp, as well as some detergents and drain cleaners.
